Macular conditions can cause loss of central vision. The Macular Society support groups are there so that no one has to face macular disease alone. Groups offer support and help in understanding macular disease and coming to terms with sight loss. They often share information about obtaining treatment, other services and staying independent. The Clacton group meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month at Imperial House, Rosemary Road, Clacton, 1pm - 3pm.

NEW! Passenger Transport Customer Satisfaction Survey

Essex County Council provides home to school, social care and some local bus transport for the people of Essex.  ECC procures transport for over 20,000 children to travel to mainstream and special need schools each day, transport for looked after children, older people and people with learning disabilities and physical and sensory impairments, and funds local bus services that cannot be sustained commercially but are deemed socially necessary (see a list of ECC supported local bus services here).  ECC ask you to complete this short survey so that they can assess and improve the services delivered by their transport suppliers:

Volunteers needed who would like to be part of a great team at the charity shop. All About You – 12 week course starting Tuesday 20th September 2016, 10am-12noon Venue: Jaywick Community Resource Centre, Brooklands Gardens, Jaywick CO15 2JP.

A FREE programme for young parents/carers aged 25 and under and their children. They will be working with artists from the Mercury Theatre helping them and their children learn & develop by taking part in fun and simple creative activities such as singing, dancing and craft. The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service

The closing date for nominations for the 2017 QAVS is 16th September 2016. Any group of two or more people that has participated in voluntary work for more than three years can be nominated for the award – full details of how to make a nomination and who can make a nomination is on the website.
