Little Clacton Summer Carnival - Monday 4th June 2012.

We will be participating in the Little Clacton Summer Carnival on Monday 4th June 2012. We will need to meet at 1pm at the Parish Fields, Plough Corner, as the procession starts at 2pm. It will only last for about an hour, so I am sure you could spare us the time! We will have a car to cover in posters and play music. But we will need walkers to give out some publicity leaflets. Everyone is welcome to come and join us but anyone under the age of 16 years old will need a Parent to accompany them please! You do not need to dress up unless of course you want to. If you are interested in joining us or want more information then please contact Sam McCarthy on 07585440815 or chairman@c-m-t-s.co.uk Thanks.

Clacton Railway Club Jubilee Day Celebration

We have been asked to provide some entertainment at the Clacton Railway Club's Jubilee Celebrations on Tuesday 5th June. We need to do four 20 minute slots, made up of solos, duets, etc. We will be performing at 1pm, for 20 mins, have 20 mins break and then do another 20 mins. Then the same for 4pm. You can sing whatever you like and how ever many you like, but we need to bear in mind that it is for Families and it would be good to have a mix of current songs with musical theatre numbers. You can use a backing track or have Hector Moyes play for you. But you would need to contact him first to ask!! As before, the Clacton Railway Club will be making a substantial donation to use for providing this entertainment. Last time we got over £200, so it is all worth it! If you are able to support us with this ideal opportunity to publicise the Society, please contact Sam McCarthy on 07585440815 or chairman@c-m-t-s.co.uk Thanks.

'We Love The West Cliff' Concert

We have been asked to participate in the 25th Anniversary Concert for the Friends of the West Cliff Theatre. It is on Sunday 22nd July 2012. Rehearsals will start on Monday 2nd July 2012, 7.30pm at our HQ. They will be every Monday and Wednesday until the Concert. Only 6 Rehearsals in total, so we will need 100% attendance and commitment from everyone please. Sam McCarthy, Hector Moyes and Ashleigh Masters will be putting this all together. We will be performing the following numbers: 'Breeze Off The River', 'Walk With Me' and 'Women's World' from 'The Full Monty'. 'Nun's Chorus', 'Do Rah Me' and 'Finale Ultimo/Climb Every Mountain' from 'The Sound Of Music'. 'When You Believe' from 'Prince of Egypt'. The Youth Performers will be doing: 'Bugsy Malone', 'Fat Sam's Grand Slam' and 'You Give A Little Love' from 'Bugsy Malone' 'Kids In America' 'Freak Flag' from 'Shrek'. 'When You Believe' will be our Finale and the Youth Performers will join us for it. If you would like to participate with us please can you contact Sam McCarthy. This is so we can work out how many Members will be taking part. If you would like some more information, please contact Sam McCarthy on 07585440815 or chairman@c-m-t-s.co.uk Thanks.

Colchester Operatic Society Presents...

Springers Present...

Families wanted for a TV Documentary on C4.

I recently got this email, which I have been asked to pass onto our Members:

My name is Kate and I work for Twofour, a television production company based in London. We are currently developing a documentary series for Channel 4 about family life in Britain in 2012 and we’re looking for warm, engaging and outgoing families who might be interested in taking part. I wanted to drop you a line, as I thought your amateur dramatics group might be a great place to find the kind families we are looking for.

We are hoping to make a landmark series about what life is really like for British families in this iconic year and are looking for six vibrant families from different backgrounds and regions to film with throughout this summer. Our search for families is very broad, but we are looking for a family with at least two children still living at home- other than that, absolutely anything and everyone goes! At this stage, we would like to speak to as many people as possible - all our conversations are confidential and do not commit people to be involved.

If you can think of any parents or youngsters at your group might be interested in taking part in this series, please send them our contacts or give me a call directly and we can chat further. We would always need parental consent before talking to those under 18.

Please feel free to give me a call anytime or pass my number to anyone you think might like to have a chat – 0207 438 1972.

Thanks again for your help and I look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes

Change to the Future June Productions.

As you are aware, the Management Committee has secured licences for our June Productions until the year 2015. Due to another local group performing 'Sweet Charity' in January 2013, the Management Committee contacted the licence holder to see if we could change. This request has been successful and therefore our June Production in 2013 will be 'The Sound of Music'. We will now perform 'Sweet Charity' in June 2014, with 'My Fair Lady' in June 2015. The Management Committee is currently discussing the June Productions for 2016 & 2017.

NODA Awards - Results.

As you may or may not be aware, we were nominated for 'Best Production of 2011' for our NODA district for 'Cinderella'. Unfortunately we did not win on this occasion but it is always an honour to be recognised for our Productions by NODA, which we are grateful for. Some local groups were winners though: 'Best Musical' went to Colchester Operatic Society for 'Sweeney Todd'. 'Best Play' went to CADS for 'It Runs In The Family'. 'Best Pantomime' went to Dovercourt Theatre Group for 'Babes In The Woods'. 'Best Youth Performer' went to Alex Hooker from the West Cliff Theatre Youth Group for playing 'Reno' in 'Anything Goes'. 'Best Technical Achievement' went to CADS for the set for 'Sandcastles'. The District Shield for 'Best Production', (which we won for 'High Society' last time!), went to Colchester Operatic Society for 'Sweeney Todd'. The Councillors Cup also went to Colchester Operatic Society for 'Sweeney Todd'.
